Clear target group definition and approach
Who is my target group - who do I want to address?
(e.g. private or commercial customers, specific sectors or professions)
Clear layout
Adapt the design and message to your defined target group and use a clear „hierarchy“ (e.g. headline, subheadings, text). The most important information should immediately catch the reader's eye.
Concise message
Communicate your unique selling point (e.g. fast execution, special quality, made-to-measure) briefly and concisely, without too much text.
Call-to-action (CTA)
Ask the reader to take a specific action (e.g. „Call us now!“, „Request a non-binding offer!“).
Contact information
Make sure that the name, telephone number, email, website and address (if applicable) are clearly visible and free of errors. When using a QR code, check whether it is forwarded to your home page, for example.
Visual elements
Use high-resolution photos of your work, your team, satisfied customers and logos or symbols that convey a professional impression.
Tips
Color choice
Use colors that are included in your logo or are associated with your industry (e.g. blue for reliability, green for environmental awareness).
Pictures
Use high-resolution photos of your work or your company. Avoid overloaded or blurred images.
Font, font size
Choose one (not several) easily legible, clear font and a uniform font size (e.g. for the main heading 25, subheading 20, text 12 pt.
Format
Standard formats such as DIN A5 or DIN long (A4 folded) are popular and practical
Layout design
Use sufficient white space and contrast so that the design is not overloaded and everything is easy to read. Set accents with bold print or underlining to emphasize the really important points.
Notes and recommendations for printing
Arrangement
You can send us your postcards, business cards or flyers either individually without bleed marks and margins as a PDF file or arranged on a DIN A4 page (e.g. four postcards or 10 to 12 business cards).
Trimming and crop marks
Edge-to-edge printing is not possible in digital printing. This means that non-printable white edges remain on the sides of the paper with colored background areas. If these are not desired, they can be trimmed after printing. Crop marks are not required. When arranging several cards on one sheet, bleed marks and bleed marks in the form of fine lines on the page edges are useful.
Double-sided
If your card is to be printed on both sides, you should bear in mind that digital printing does not always achieve a millimetre-perfect fit between the front and back. It is therefore advisable not to place text and graphic elements too close to the edges when designing.
Please save the front and back as two continuous pages in one PDF file.
Levels
If you are using a graphics program, please make sure to reduce everything to one layer without compressing the file when saving.
Graphic
Your photos, graphics, images, logos, ... should have a sufficiently high resolution of at least 600 dpi. Vector files are not always suitable for high-quality printing and some programs save them as low-resolution raster files when converting them to PDF.
Color
Colors and images often appear differently in the printed image than on the screen: Monitors work with RGB (red, green, blue), while printing machines use CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black).
Color fastness
In contrast to offset printing, color fastness cannot be guaranteed with digital printing, even if your print file is optimally prepared, due to the electrostatic toner process.
TipTake the opportunity to have a sample printed in advance.
